Overview#
The Administration area is where you define your organization’s structure — companies, branches, locations, departments, designations, and teams — and configure system-wide settings.
Purpose#
Set up the organizational scaffolding that every other module (employees, attendance, leave, payroll) depends on, before adding real employee data.
Prerequisites#
- A completed installation with a working login (see Installation).
- A System/IT Administrator or HR Administrator account.
- A decision on your organization’s structure (how many companies/branches, department names, designation titles) before you start entering data.
Step-by-Step Instructions#
Tenant creation#
- Create your organization (tenant) using the sign-up/tenant-creation flow. The system checks that your chosen organization slug is available.
- Confirm the "current organization" context is correct before continuing — all data you create is scoped to this tenant.
Organization setup#
- Go to Organisation → Companies and create at least one company record.
- Add Locations (physical sites) under Organisation.
- Add Branches if your company operates from multiple branches within a location.
- Add Departments (e.g. Engineering, Sales, Finance).
- Add Designations (job titles, e.g. Software Engineer, HR Manager).
- Add Teams if you organize employees into teams below the department level.
- Open Organisation → Chart to view the resulting org chart once employees are linked to these structures.
Holiday calendar and policies#
The holiday calendar is configured inside the Leave module, not here in Administration — look for Leave → Holidays.
- Configure leave, attendance, and payroll policies from within their respective modules (Leave, Attendance, Payroll) — Administration provides the organizational structure those policies attach to.
Screens Involved#
Expected Results#
A complete organizational tree (company → branch/location → department → designation/team) that new employee records can be linked to, and a browsable org chart.
Not Available in This Release#
- A dedicated visual branding/theme editor was not confirmed in this pass — verify with your implementation team whether logo/color customization is exposed in your version before promising it to stakeholders.
- Shift management does not have a dedicated admin screen in this area — shifts are configured from the Attendance module's API and currently lack a matching UI page (see Attendance → Not Available).
Common Mistakes#
- Creating employees before finishing the department/designation structure, forcing rework later.
- Assuming holidays are configured in Administration — they are configured in Leave → Holidays.
- Deleting a department that still has employees or designations attached instead of archiving it.
Troubleshooting#
The org chart is empty or incomplete.#
The org chart is built from employee records linked to departments/designations/managers. Confirm employees have been created and correctly linked before expecting a populated chart.
I archived a department by mistake.#
Archived records use restore endpoints rather than hard deletes in this system — check for a "Restore" action in the relevant list view before recreating the record from scratch.

FAQ#
Where do I set up public holidays?
In the Leave module, not Administration. Look for Holidays under Leave.
Can one tenant have multiple companies?
Yes. The organization model supports multiple Companies, each with their own Branches, Locations, Departments, Designations, and Teams.
Are organization records hard-deleted?
No. Company/branch/department/designation/team records support archive and restore rather than permanent deletion from the list screens.
Best Practices#
- Finalize your department and designation naming before mass-importing employees — renaming later means updating every linked record.
- Use the org chart as a sanity check after bulk employee imports.
